Aaron Sharples runs 100K for the Bay in one day!
Find out why inspirational Aaron ran 100 kilometres (that's just over 62 miles!) in one day to support Morecambe Bay.
Having just completed the London Marathon in April with a time of 2 hrs 42 minutes (this is a brilliant marathon time!), Aaron decided to take on the challenge of completing 100K in one day.
Why?
Carringtons Coffee is hosting a special fundraiser for our charity through its FuellingTheBold™ campaign aiming to raise £3,000 for Morecambe Bay. The challenge event '100K in May for Morecambe Bay' invites everyone to get involved and walk, cycle, run or swim 100km this May. All the funds raised are helping:
- NATURE which is under great threat.
- COMMUNITIES who are facing poverty & inequality.
- YOUNG PEOPLE to improve skills & life chances.
- ACCESS FOR ALL to the Bay’s coast and countryside
A fitness and lifestyle influencer. Aaron runs a regular programme of 10K runs from Carringtons’ coffee shop Bold, in Hest Bank. Talking about the challenge, Aaron said “Running 100km in a single day is daunting, but my goal goes beyond the physical challenge. All I need is to inspire one person. I want to create a real community here in Morecambe Bay”.
Starting at Bold coffee shop in Hest Bank before 8am on Saturday 4th May, Aaron broke the 100K run into 10K slots running an impressively consistent time for each leg.
Runners and supporters turned out to cheer or join in. Astonishingly, Aaron finished his 100 kilometres in the early evening and with a smile!
We want to say a MASSIVE thank you to Aaron for his inspirational commitment and effort to run for our charity, and for completing 100K in May for Morecambe Bay... in just one day. Aaron - you are an inspiration!
We also want to thank Alex and Suzy of Carringtons Coffee Company who are throwing their energy and enthusiasm into driving the fundraising event '100K in May for Morecambe Bay' through their FuellingTheBold™ initiative, helping to raise £3,000 for Morecambe Bay. Carringtons’ Director, Suzy Carrington, “I'm really fortunate to live in this beautiful area, and it's truly the people that make Morecambe Bay such a special place. That’s why we set up FuellingTheBold™, to bring local people together to enhance their wellbeing, fitness and sense of community”.
If you feel inspired but don't want to walk, run, cycle or swim 100K yourself you can donate to the cause or sponsor Aaron.
