100 K in May Womens 5 K Run Hest Bank 23 May 2024

We challenged you to walk, run, cycle or swim '100K in May for Morecambe Bay'. And you did it!

Over a hundred of you took part helping to raise vital funds for Morecambe Bay. And you exceeded the fundraising target! Find out who took part AND why this special place, Morecambe Bay, needs your help.

You did it! 100K in May for Morecambe Bay

Local business, Carringtons Coffee Co., hosted the month long fundraiser '100K in May for Morecambe Bay' for our charity through its FuellingTheBold™ campaign. From their coffee shop, BOLD, in Hest Bank, Carringtons offered a series of free events - from runs to bike rides to beach cleans.

Aiming to raise £2,000 for Morecambe Bay, the month long challenge raised over £2,500 from active participants and donors.

We're grateful to those of you who got behind this active challenge - walking, cycling, running and swimming your 100K (some of you completed significantly more kilometres!!). We're also very grateful to those who supported this initiative through donations and sponsorship.

Buy why do we need to raise money for Morecambe Bay? Why call it a 'cause' and why did so many of you get involved?

How do vital funds help Morecambe Bay?

  • The Bay is one of the UK’s most important biodiversity hotspots, but it needs help to survive – donations help us protect the internationally important birds and wildlife that call the Bay home.
  • Tackling litter pollution – supporting our communities to clean up our coast and countryside.
  • Access for all - improving access to the countryside for people living with disabilities or facing barriers.
  • Creating vital outdoor experiences for young people – many of whom never experience the coast and countryside.
  • Bringing health and wellbeing programmes to the Bay’s communities through cycling, walking and community volunteering.
  • Supporting volunteers to care for & celebrate the Bay’s precious heritage.

In short, all funds raised are helping:

  • NATURE which is under great threat.
  • COMMUNITIES facing poverty & inequality.
  • YOUNG PEOPLE to improve skills & life chances.
  • ACCESS FOR ALL to the Bay’s coast and countryside

“Thanks so much for reminding us all of how special Morecambe Bay is and why the work of Morecambe Bay Partnership is so important”

Felicity
