People

From Barrow in the north of Morecambe Bay to Fleetwood in the south, 425,000 people live, work, visit and study here.

What can we do to improve the lives of a significant population who all share and look out onto Morecambe Bay?

Improving access to Morecambe Bay for all

Morecambe Bay is an excellent place to visit and explore. The health benefits of being outdoors in nature and the boost it gives to our wellbeing is well-documented but access to the Bay’s stunning coast and countryside is not equal.

Areas of the Bay are challenging to access for buggies, wheelchair-users and those experiencing mobility challenges.

In partnership with other organisation, we work to increase access to the coast and countryside by creating accessible trails and providing ‘free to hire’ mobility scooters and ‘Trampers’ around the Bay.

Working with Children and Young People

Children and young people can become future custodians and advocates for the landscapes and environment on their doorstep.

Through a number of initiatives, we’re committed to supporting young people to access high quality nature-based activities in Morecambe Bay, helping them foster a life-long interest and passion for the outdoors.

Community Engagement

Working – collaborating and consulting – with communities is at the heart of how we work. Engaging with communities over how they feel about local issues, ideas and solutions shapes many of our projects. From working with the community of Sunderland Point on nature based solutions as part of ‘Our Future Coast’, to consulting residents of Grange-over-Sands and Arnside over a proposed Trail – community engagement and listening is key.
