Take Action

You can take action for Morecambe Bay through workshops, volunteering and digital initiatives.

Taking action for Morecambe Bay is a great way to support this very special place and to feel more connected to others.

Where possible we try to build opportunities into our projects. Past opportunities have included everything from dormouse reintroduction, history and heritage volunteering, litter picks and helping to re-establish saltmarsh.

Community Action Days

Community action days and workshops are great ‘one-off’ opportunities to get involved. Workshops have included litter picks, weaving and thatching ‘traps’ to combat coastal erosion and taking part in consultations. One-off sessions and workshops often suit those who want to do something positive for the Bay but can’t make a regular commitment to longer term volunteering. The best way to find out about these sessions is to join our newsletter and be the first to hear.

Volunteering

From time to time, we have volunteering opportunities connected to projects. These can range from hands-on volunteering outdoors, to desk-based research at home to archive visits. Volunteering connected to a project tends to be a defined role and commitment over a period of time. Opportunities are announced in the newsletter so if you want to hear about volunteer recruitment please sign up here. One-off volunteering is available through our Community Action workshops and these often better suit those who can’t make a regular commitment to longer term volunteering.

We don’t have any volunteering opportunities right now….

Volunteering programmes add significant benefit to the Bay, have a positive effect on volunteers and also make people feel more connected to their local communities and spaces. But did you know well-managed, impactful and responsibly-led volunteer programmes come at significant cost? From co-ordinating volunteers, to site visits, to training and equipment, to ensuring volunteers can carry out their role in safety, all takes time and resource. This is why our charity can’t guarantee volunteering opportunities all year round. But when we do, we aim to give you a positive volunteering experience and a real opportunity to make a difference to the Bay.

Specific opportunities attached to projects will be advertised here and the first step to explore getting involved is to fill out the form below.
