Wild Blue Yonder: A Day in Nature

This day allows KS2 students from across the Bay to spend a day discovering two different nature reserves in the Arnside and Silverdale National Landscape.

This is completely free for TARGET schools across Lancaster and Morecambe, kindly funded by the Areti Charitable Trust. 

During their day in nature, the young people will: 

• Connect with the outdoors and appreciate the beauty of nature
• Identify some of the wildlife present at the nature reserves
• Discuss the key elements needed for life to thrive across the Bay 

The Day in Nature provides a valuable opportunity to bring learning to life: 

• Supporting Science through studying habitats, living things and ecosystems
• Enhancing Geography by exploring different environments and landscapes
• Introducing themes of sustainability and conservation

How the day looks: 

The day will be split between two nature reserves, Trowbarrow Quarry and RSPB Leighton Moss. 

With its own forest school, Trowbarrow Quarry will allow students to be immersed in the woodland with activities including natural play, wild art and species ID.  

At RSPB Leighton Moss students will try pond dipping and birdwatching whilst exploring the reserve and discovering the wildlife that calls it home. 

The scheme is run in collaboration with Arnside and Silverdale National Landscape and RSPB Leighton Moss.
