Morecambe Bay Day 2026

Morecambe Bay Day is back — and we want your school to get involved!

Be Wild About the Bay

We’re inviting schools from around the Bay to come together once again to get active, get outside and celebrate this incredible landscape and heritage on our doorstep. This year we’re putting the spotlight on nature in the Bay. Take part in a ‘Wild Nature Challenge’ in your school grounds. You can also choose to raise vital funds to help protect the birds of Morecambe Bay.

What is Morecambe Bay Day?

Morecambe Bay Day was established by Morecambe Bay Partnership in 2024 to mark the 250th anniversary of the first time the words ‘Morecambe Bay’ appeared on a map in 1774. Since then, each year in October, in the week closest to World Migratory Bird Day, we encourage schools and our Bay communities to look with fresh eyes at this amazing place we all call home, celebrate the Bay, learn about it’s nature and heritage, take action to care for it, and raise funds to help nature, heritage and community projects.

Keep in touch! If you are taking part this year,  email us so we can share your amazing ideas and photos on the day (subject to permission).
